Baseball and softball have been swept up in a Launch Angle frenzy. I’m on “Team Hit the Ball in the Air,” but I am constantly frustrated with the arguments surrounding the topic. The thing is… we can measure this. We don’t need to guess or assume or make anything up.
The other aspect of this craze is hitters are chasing numbers and not “feel.” My favorite part about measuring this stuff is feeling a specific contact, like getting slightly under the ball, and having the numbers validate that.
This Saturday, our weekend hitting groups are all about launch angle analysis. We’ll be taking measurements and helping hitters make adjustments based on what we learn. It should be a fun day!
